Back a while in the 1940s, Las Vegas
had about 8,500 people ... and was just a
gas stop for GIs who could go to a small,
beat-up casino, gamble and get drunk.
Then one day in the late 1940s, a
gangster from Scarsdale, N.Y, Benjamin
Siegel, took a drive to Las Vegas and envi-
sioned exactly what it has become today.
He saw the swimming pools with
sexy bikini girls, sprawling casinos with
lights, monorails and moving sidewalks
taking you to your hotel room, and
hundred's of celebrities entertaining you.
