Maas Foundation, in cooperation with the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Detroit, is seeking nominations for the fourth annual Benard L. Maas Prize for Achievement in Jewish Culture and Continuity. This year's award will be given in the area of humanities, including contem- porary, literary, historical, social or cul- . rural studies. The Maas Prize honors individuals whose work enhances Jewish life and community and encourages the explo- ration of Jewish cultural issues and the creation of Jewish art. The prize recog- nizes institutions for their role in advancing the cause of Jewish arts and culture. To be eligible, the artist or institution must be located in Michigan. The indi- vidual may be a working artist, scholar or educator who makes a unique contri- bution to the Jewish community. The organization should have programming that exemplifies an outstanding strength in Jewish arts or humanities. A monetary prize of $2,500 and a cer- tificate of achievement will be awarded in both the individual and organization. The deadline for nominations is Monday, Sept. 16. Individuals must submit a statement of artistic intent, two samples of repre- sentative work, two letters of support, and a curriculum vita.
