LINKIN PARK eschew rock 'n' roll
stereotypes.
Jewish bassist BRAD DELSON says
the band avoids groupies and isn't
interested in taking drugs. "The
groupies are more with the road crew,"
he says. "It's kinda gross."
As far as drugs go, Delson explains,
we've all seen scary stuff and we're
able to learn from it. I've seen people
being turned crazy and I'm like, 'That
can never happen to me.' We want to
be as healthy as we can. I go bowling!"
The nice-boy rockers, including
Jewish drummer ROB BOURDON,
aren't impressed when females
flash the flesh in their direction
during performances either, and
wish lovers of their music would-
n't spend ages coming up with
messages to display at concerts.
But the rockers do appreciate
their fans, says Delson, who
adds, "I don't understand it
when bands put satanic messages
in their music. We're the oppo-
site. When you play our songs,
they're saying things like, 'We
love our fans, thank you.'"

Hollywood hunk TAYE.
DIGGS (How Stella Got Her
Groove Back, Ally McBeal) and
Spelling says his thoughts and
prayers are with the former pin-up,
who is recovering in the hospital after
fracturing his spine and feet.
The legendary producer/director
says, "Jason came up to my office [just
recently] and said, 'I'm ready to go
back to work in a series for you.' He
looked great."
Priestley's agent insists his client will
make a full recovery from his injuries.
He says, "He's indestructible — no
brain damage, no spinal cord damage,
no internal bleeding. His feet are man-
gled but his hands are OK. He'll be
back at work."

The couple, both 30, met when they
were both starring in the original
Broadway version of the hit musical
Rent (she earned a Tony nomination).
The couple went on to co-star in former
Oak Parker ANDREW LIPPA's New
York production of The Wild Party.
Menzel, who got her start as a wed-
ding singer on the New York country
club circuit in Westchester and on
Long Island, has recorded her first solo
album, Still I Can't Be Still, and
recently finished a gig as Amneris in
the Broadway production of Aida. •

hottie JASON PRIESTLEY a reason
to get well fast after his racing-car
smashup — a new show.
Spelling and Priestley were in negotia-
tions for a new TV series earlier this
month before the actor smashed his car
into a wall at the Indie 500 in Kentucky.
