Attending Abbott Middle School in West Bloomfield, where she is an honor student, Becca likes drama, soc- cer, playing the drums and rock climbing. Her most meaningful mitz- vah projects were volunteering at a . summer day camp and at Yad Ezra in Berkley. Andrew Kent Lieberman will be . called to the Torah as a bar mitzvah on Saturday, Aug. 24, at Adat Shalom Synagogue. Andy is the son of Michael and Lori Lieberman and the older brother of Marni and Alana. He is the grandson. of Phyllis and Leon Shy, Marion and Warren Wolfe, Cullen Lieberman and the late Margaret Lieberman. Andy is an honor student at Walnut Creek Middle School in Walled Lake. He enjoys playing basketball and trav- el baseball. Andy ' s mitzvah projects included making and delivering Purim parcels through the Agency for Jewish Education; he frequently volunteers at the Fleischman Residence in West Bloomfield, where he has bowled with, done art projects for and enter- tained the residents. Andy has made, and will continue to make, charitable contributions to various organizations. Jeremy Elliot Rowe will be called to the Torah as a bar mitzvah on Saturday, Aug. 24, at Congregation Shaarey Zedek Southfield. He is the son of Joanne and Dr. Michael Rowe and the lov- ing brother of Melissa. Proud grandparents are Eleanor and Monte Korn and Dorothy and Dr. Irving Rowe. Jeremy is a student at O.E. Dunckel Middle School in Farmington Hills. He enjoys playing the trumpet, draw- ing, playing computer games, building models, participating in family activi- ties and sports. His mitzvah projects include volunteering as a youth coun- selor at Congregation Shaarey Zedek's Camp Betman, participating in the JARC Empty Bowl Project and mak- ing a contribution to Yad Ezra in Berkley. Matthew W. Silver will be bar mitz- vah at Congregation Shir Tikvah on Saturday, Aug. 24. Matthew's proud parents are Neil and Jennifer Silver. His brother, Cody; great-grandmother Fay Luchtan of Southfield; and grandmothers, Ruth Joyce of Rochester Hills and Adele Silver of Southfield will also participate in the ceremony. Matthew is an all-A student at Baker Middle School in Troy and is an avid baseball player. His mitzvah proj- ects include running bingo games at his grandmother's assisted living facili- ty as well as picking up litter in his neighborhood and at the synagogue. Lee Samuel Sorkin will be called to the Torah as a bar mitzvah on Saturday, Aug. 24, at Beth Israel Congregation in Ann Arbor. Sharing in this spe- cial occasion will be his parents Elliot and Bonnie Sorkin and grandmothers Sylvia Sorkin and Roslyn Garfinkel. He is also the grand- son of the late Leon Sorkin and the late Saul Garfinkel. Lee is an honor student at Hillel Day School of Metropolitan Detroit in Farmington Hills. For his mitzvah proj- ect, Lee volunteered at the West Bloomfield Public Library and helped lead a Passover seder at the Danto Family Health Care Center in West Bloomfield. Daniel Meyer Vahaba (Daniel) of West Bloonteld will become a bar mitzvah at Congregation Shaarey Zedek Southfield on Saturday, Aug. 24. His parents are Karen and Michael Bloomberg and Felix Vahaba. Proud grandparents are Dr. Leon and Nancy Firestone. Daniel is an honor student at Orchard Lake Middle School in West Bloomfield. His hobbies include drawing, going on the computer, play- ing basketball and other games.
