Nov. 3, 9:30 a.m.-1 p.m. One-day
event to help homebound older adults
prepare their homes for winter by rak-
ing leaves, cleaning and winterizing
windows and doing light household
chores.
• Mentors — 2-4 times monthly; 1
year commitment. Reach out to a
boy or girl who could benefit from a
special friendship with a caring adult.
Offer valuable companionship and
support by providing a young person
with one-on-one attention and guid-
ance.
• Friendly Visitors — 1 hour weekly
or bimonthly Visit with homebound
older adults in Oak Park, Southfield,
or Farmington Hills. Be a friendly vis-
itor or a grocery shopper.
• Meals-On-Wheels — 1 morning
weekly. Packers and drivers are need-
ed.
• AGJAM (Advisory Group to Jewish
Agency Management)— flexible time
commitment. Qualified Jewish
retirees have been assembled into a
volunteer corps of executives and pro-
fessionals whose mission is to provide
pro-bono consultation upon request
to the Jewish Federation of
Metropolitan Detroit, its member
agencies, or to other Jewish commu-
nal organizations, schools, syna-
gogues, etc.
• Courtesy Drivers — 1-3 hours, 1
day weekly. Provide transportation for
older adults to doctor appointments,
outpatient surgeries or run errands.
• Citizenship Coaches — 1-3 hours,
1 day weekly. Help new American
become U.S. citizens by preparing
them for their citizenship interview.;
