BARRY MANILOW wowed fans at a

special gig in New York's Bryant Park
late last month. The 56-year-old
crooner fought through the humidity
of a Big Apple heat wave to perform
before 2,000 devotees at the outdoor
concert.
And fans weren't left disappointed as
Manilow — dressed all in black —
belted out classics like "Can't Smile
Without You" and "Mandy."
But, while he was happy to play on
through the sweltering 90-degree heat,
the singer did express concern about
audience members crammed together
— many holding up posters of the
star.
Manilow said from
the stage, "This is above
and beyond the call of
duty.
"My Jewish guilt is
kicking in, having these
people stand in the
sun."
