"I loved the snow cones and the

I

magine JARC members' surprise
Aug. 4 when more than 300 fam-
ilies
700 people
double
what they expected, arrived for
the fourth annual JARC Carnival for
young children, their families and
the community.
"It was marvelous!" says Anne
Fleming, JAR C communications
coordinator. The Farmington Hills-
based JARC aids those with devel-
opmental disabilities.
"We had over 25 carnival events,
all donated," she adds; like the giant
slide, ring toss, pony rides and pup-
pet shows, along with food and
drinks.
But what was most exciting, says
Fleming, was the range of people
who attended. "From newborns to
seniors, and lots of kids with special
needs, their siblings, parents, grand-
parents, and neighbors ... We
reached our goal, attracting a broad
spectrum of the community."
The event was free, not a fund-
raiser, and a chance for JARC to
give back to the community, says
Eric Lumberg of Birmingham, the
carnival chair, adding, "I'm thrilled Arida Gal of Southfield, Julie Cash Levin of
to see so many young kids of all
Farmington Hills, and Gal children Ofir, 3,
abilities enjoying a great time
and Kinaret, 4, pose with Twizzer the Clown at
together."
the JARC carnival.
The youngsters concurred.
