general manager at the one-time
Ristorante Di Modesta in Southfield.
She is handling party catering for its
former chef Hamad Kouka ... at his
popular Pasta Fagioli restaurant on
Square Lake Road, east of Telegraph in
Bloomfield Hills.
The small restaurant of Hamad and
Janine Kouka is one of the top places
to go for good food and relaxed dining
... This, its customers will readily
attest to ... and most of them have
been to the best.
Pasta Fagioli may be small, seating
just about 50 ... but few restaurants
come any cozier ... or cleaner.
BEING GOLF NUTS, the thrill
was big when brothers Rick and
Ronnie Fink were invited by Windsor
Casino to play in the AT&T Canada
Senior Pro-Am Open at Essex
Country Club in LaSalle, Ontario.
Both are "regulars" at the Casino,
which was one of the co-sponsors ...
and were picked because their profiles
in the system told of both having avid
loves for golf.
Imagine playing with the likes of
Ben Crenshaw, Jim Colbert, Gary
Player, Tom Kite, Hubert Green, Hale
Irwin, Larry Ziegler, etc.
But probably having late draws, the
Fink brothers didn't get any of them ...
Just a no-name like Clyde Hughey, an
African-American from Mesa, Ariz. ...
and Hugh Bianci, who had to with-
draw because of a bad back ... in favor
of another no-name, Kenny Watkins Jr.
However, the pairings turned out to
be good ones ... with Rich, Ronnie
and a third amateur, John Matthews,
playing with Hughey the first day and
Watkins the second day.
