way to searingly strong and burning.
A good Thai restaurant adheres
strongly to the wishes of its cus-
tomers ... and can blend according
to taste desires.
Rexy's Bangkok Cuisine numbers
among them ... and is a delightful
experience in good Thai dining.

MAIL DEPT. ... from Selma Korn
... "My dad's (Nathan or as many
called him, Naftala) first restaurant
was on Gratiot in 1915. Our last
restaurant, Korn's, opened in 1938
on Linwood, between Richton and
Cortland, and closed in 1952.
"Before moving to Linwood, it was
the Capital Restaurant on 12th
Street between Philadelphia and
Euclid.
"We opened at 5 a.m. and closed
at 1 a.m. prior to World War II. You
could always tell what the time was
by who gathered for breakfast. The
butchers; plumbers, other trades
people and lastly, the doctors.
"In 1940, a complete roast beef
dinner was 65 cents and a rib steak
dinner was 95 cents. In those pre-
and post-Depression days, no one
who asked for food or was short of
funds was ever turned away.
"Our store had the restaurant area
and a dining room where my parents
were the first to initiate catering bar
mitzvahs, bridal showers and wed-
dings. To this. day, my sister, Phyllis,
and I meet people who remember
and tell us of having their simchahs
at Korn's.
"People came from all over the
Detroit area for our daily special
soup and my father's delicious
cheesecake. Our mother, Rose,
shared with our father the daily hard
work."
