Techner Co-Leads
Partnership 2000

David Techner of Birmingham has
been selected to serve a three-year
term as co-chair of Federation's
Partnership 2000 steering commit-
tee, sharing the chairmanship with
Steve Schanes of West Bloomfield.
Partnership 2000 strives to nur-
ture the business, educational, spiri-
tual and social relationships between
Michigan Jewry and Israel's Central
Galilee. In partnership with
Nazareth Illit, Migdal HaEmek and
the Jezreel
Valley, the
Jewish
Federation
of Metro-
politan
Detroit has
built a rela-
tionship of
shared val-
ues and
interests and
personal

One of
Techner's
first duties was to accompany the
Partnership 2000 steering commit-
tee to Israel in May. Techner is a
funeral director at the Ira Kaufman
Chapel in Southfield.
The Partnership 2000 committee
has four new members from metro
Detroit: Sharon Lipton, Joshua
Opperer, Nancy Schostak and
Jeffrey Stewart, and one new mem-
ber from Ann Arbor, Hilary Murt.

Seeds Of Peace

On Channel 50

UPN 50 Nightside, the Channel 50
newscast at 10 p.m., will air a series of
reports on the local chapter of Seeds
of Peace beginning July 29.
Seeds of Peace is a nonprofit, non-
political organization, based in New
York, that helps teenagers from
regions of conflict learn the skills of
making peace. Local chapter presi-
dents are Ariela Shani and Joanne
Faycurry.
Co-anchor Pallas Hupe said, "I have
seen teen and adult Arabs and Jews in
this town and elsewhere forge deep
and lasting friendships, and that's an
important story."
