Attorney Paul J. Blizman, running
for judge of 47th District Court,

the Oakland
County Bar

Blizman is one
of only two
candidates in
the seven-way
race to earn
the associa-

rating.
Addressing
two serious issues in his campaign,
Blizman said, "Drunk driving and
domestic violence are crimes that
cause enormous pain and suffering iri
every American community. Beyond
their immediate victims, they affect
relatives, friends, neighbors, employ-
ers, schools and social-service agen-
cies."
As judge of 47th District Court,
which covers Farmington and
Farmington Hills, Blizman said he
would attack those problems "head-

on" and "do whatever the law allows
to reduce that pain and suffering."
Blizman brings to his candidacy
two decades of legal experience, 12
years as a counselor and therapist,
plus service as a volunteer.
His community service includes
the board chairmanship of the
Chamber Music Society of Detroit,
plus service with the Farmington
Hills Council of Homeowners and
the Farmington-Farmington Hills
Community Foundation for
Children, Youth and Families.

Lee, are members of Temple Beth El

year residents of Farmington Hills.
Their daughter, Alexis, is a law stu-
dent at George Washington
University in Washington, D.C.
An attorney since 1981, Blizman
has served Farmington Hills on the
Energy, Historic District and Ethics
Commissions. He is in his second
stint as Planning Commission chair,
which he joined in 1987.
The 1980 Detroit College of Law
graduate received a bachelor's degree
in history and a master's in social
work from Wayne State University.
He was a social worker at a juvenile
correctional facility and an individual
therapist and marriage counselor.
A sole practitioner, Blizman is a
member of the national, state and
county bar associations and the
Oakland County Bar Foundation.
He's also a fellow of the Michigan
State Bar Foundation.
