The museum and members of the school's Jewish Studies Program are preparing a state-focused exhibit to go along with a touring display designed by the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, D.C., that is to be shown in East Lansing Nov. 17, 2002-June 15, 2003. "Assignment Rescue: The Story of Varian Fry and the Emergency Rescue Committee" showcases, in text and photoS, how Fry and his associates found ways to help Jewish intellectuals escape the Nazis in France. The companion exhibit, "Uneasy Years: Michigan Jews During the Depression and World War II," will explore how area Jews lived then and how they reacted to the diffi- cult events.
