Pho tos by Angie Baan fit! 2 SOUTHFIELD NURSING HOME CREATES ONE LAST MEMORY FOR ITS COMMUNITY. R esidents, family members, vol- unteers and community mem- bers crowded into the parlor of Elan Village in Southfield for a farewell tea on July 9. The kosher nursing home is closing for financial reasons by the end of July. Dick Fink, co-owner of Elan Village, praised the staff for providing excellent care to residents, offering them love and warmth on a daily basis. The Elan residents and families gave a standing ovation as Marcia Mittelman, executive director, acknowl- edged each department manager and staff member. The tears flowed freely as final hugs and kisses were exchanged. Though the Elan Village era is ending, the facility's family- like atmosphere will be remembered. 7/19 2002 50 Clockwise from top..
