Formerly of Radlett, England, Mr. Zatman graduated from Cambridge University in 1993. He earned his master's degree in mathematics and his doctorate in geophysics from Harvard University in Cambridge, Mass., at age 25. He then spent a year at NASA Goddard Space Laboratory in Maryland, fol- lowed by a three-year fellowship at the Miller Institute, University of California, Berkeley. In August 2001, Mr. Zatman took a position as an assistant professor at Washington University of St. Louis in the Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences. He conducted research on the Earth's magnetic field and on deformation of the Earth's crust.
