He was born in Detroit and grew up in the city, grad- uating from Northwestern High School. His first job was selling shoes for A.S. Beck. Mr. Goldfine was a co-owner of the old Clam Shop restaurant in Detroit. In 1943, he opened the Clam Shop, on East Grand Boulevard at Russell, with his brother-in-law Ben Bialek. He worked in the kitchen; he worked the bar, and he worked the tables. In the early 1960s, his partner died and Mr. Goldfine continued alone. He sold the restaurant and retired in the mid- 1970s and the restaurant closed soon afterward. Mr. Goldfine is survived by his beloved wife, Rachel Goldfine; sons and daughters-in-law, Allan and Julie Goldfine of Howell, Dr. Richard and Michele Goldfine of Farmington Hills; daughter, Nancy Boyer-Skae of Southfield; sister and brother-in-law, Ruth and Albert Klaiman of N. Lauderdale, Fla.; grandchildren, Cathy (Robert) Ooms, Marc Boyer, Lindsey Goldfine; great-grandchildren, Jared Evan Ooms, Noah Fox Ooms and Jacob Harrison Ooms.
