Dr. Stephanie Renee Lichten, daughter
of Drs. Edward and Gail Lichten of
Bloomfield Hills, has earned her medical
degree from Rush Medical College in
Chicago. She will begin her residency in
pediatrics at Albert Einstein-Jacoby in
New York. Her brother, Dr. Jason Brett
Lichten, a chief surgical resident at Beth
Israel Hospital in New York, has been
granted a fellowship in plastic surgery at
SUNY Hospital, Brooklyn.

Dr. Leon Herschfus of Southfield
received the Michigan Dental
Association's highest honor when he was
presented the 2002 John G. Nolen
Meritorious Award. The award recog-
nizes exceptional contributions to the
advancement and science of the dental
profession. An active member of the
Detroit Dental Society, Dr. Herschfus is
a past president and former chairman of
the relief committee. He serves as a
member of the society's editorial board.

Dr. Gary M. Berman of Farmington
Hills has been named a 2002 Dentist
Citizen of the Year by the 6,100-member
of the Michigan Dental Association.
Berman, a member of the U.S. Region
V Disaster Mortuary Operational
Recovery Team, was called to assist with
the identification efforts at the World
Trade Center disaster site in New York
City.

Dr. Michelle Alder of Birmingham, with
the Castleman Medical group, was
named one of the LaserVisionĀ® 2001 top
100 surgeons for achieving excellence in
refractive surgery. He reached one of the
highest LASIK Vision Correction case
volumes in 2002 in the United States.
She has performed thousands of LASIK
procedures and has demonstrated expert-
ise in treating patients with glaucoma,
cataracts and other diseases of the eye.

Dr. Kevan Kreitman of Farmington
Hills is the new president of the
Michigan Podiatric Medical Association,
representing physician specialists of the
foot and ankle. He will serve a two-year
term. Dr. Kreitman practices in Roseville
and New Baltimore and is affiliated with
St. John North Shores Hospital.
