Five individuals received leadership
awards at the Jewish Community
Center's annual meeting June 19 at
the JCC in West Bloomfield.
Winners of the Susan Alterman
JCC Leadership Award are Reva
Rosen and Kenneth Manko. Named
as President's Award winners were
Andi Wolfe and JCC Past Presidents
Linda Lee and Douglas Bloom.
The Alterman Award was created
in memory of Susan Alterman by her
husband, Irwin, and son, Owen.
Mrs. Alterman was an active member
of the JCC Health Club, served on
the agency's board
and was a vice
president. She was
active locally in the
National Council
of Jewish Women,
Orchards
Children's Services,
Jewish Federation
of Metropolitan
Reva Rosen
Detroit and Adat
Shalom
Synagogue.
Established in
1999 by then-JCC
President Lawrence
A. Wolfe, the
President's Awards
were created to rec-
ognize volunteers
"for their out-
standing leadership Kenneth Manko
and commitment,
and to honor those
whose involvement has enhanced a
Center program benefiting the entire
community."
Rosen has served for three years as
development chair for the JCC's
annual Jewish Book Fair and was co-
chair of the Klezmatics concert cele-
brating the agency's 75th anniversary.
She serves on the membership com-
mittee and represents the JCC for the
adult lecture series, a partnership
between the JCC and other local
organizations and congregations.
Rosen is a member of the JCC Board
of Directors. Her other affiliations
include Jewish Women's Foundation,
National Council of Jewish Women,
Birmingham Bloomfield Cultural
Council, Greater Detroit Chapter of
Hadassah and Temple Israel.
Manko has served for 10 years on
the JCC Health Club committee and
was the chair for two years. He also
worked with the Development

Department on the annual fund-rais-
ing golf outing, which supports camp
and youth programs at the JCC. He
is a member of the membership com-
mittee and has been on the JCC
Board for four years. He also is a
member of the Oakland County
Sheriff's Advisory Committee.
Lee was co-chair with Bloom of the
JCC's 75th
anniversary cele-
bration. She has
chaired the JCC
executive commit-
tee, and was a vice
president, treasurer
and committee
chair. She has a
long association
Andi Wolfe
with the Jewish
Federation, having
served as chair or
member of several
committees, co-
chair of the Super
Sunday appeal and
a vice president
and board member
of the Federation
Women's
Campaign and
Linda Lee
Education
Department.
Federation award-
ed her its Sylvia
Simon Greenberg
Young Leadership
Award in 1982.

Bloom and his wife, Barbara, have
endowed the JCC's annual Barbara
and Douglas Bloom Matzah Factory,
giving children a hands-on experience
on matzah baking and learning about
