er and memorialize the victims of the slaughter.
On June 18, for example, Eilu v'Eilu, the Conservative movement's
local adult learning project, held a brief memorial in West Bloomfield.
"Besides the terrible tragedy and the loss of life, just as difficult is the
fact that Israelis feel alone in the world," said David Roet, the
Chicago-based deputy counsel general to Israel. "The support of the
United States, and maybe more important the support of the Jewish
community, in speaking out, in donating, in calling and visiting Israel,
and in political advocacy, is unbelievably important for Israelis."
