BBYO Elects
2002 Officers

The Michigan Region B'nai B'rith
Youth Organization Board elected
officers at its annual meeting at
Congregation Beth Ahm.
Rick Segal was elected chairman of
the board of directors and Kevin
Elbinger, Barbara Horowitz, Sharon
Schwartz and Michele Siegal were
elected vice chairmen.-Additional offi-
cers include Eva Shapiro, secretary;
Jacob Braslaw, treasurer; Irwin
Alterman, David Bittker, Arthur
Siegal and Paula Goldman-Spinner,
members of the executive committee.
Outgoing board chair Sherry Kanter
reported on BBYO activities during
her two-year tenure. Andy Gutman,
adviser of Marx and .Shapiro AZA
chapters and president of the Great •
Lakes Adviser Association, received
the Charles and Florence Milan
BBYO Board Mitzvah Award for his
service over the last nine years.
Guest speaker was Brian Greene,
international director of BBYO.
Other speakers included Arnold J.
Weiner, Michigan region senior exec-
utive director; Scott Kaufman, Young
Adult Division president, representing
the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan
Detroit; and John Rofel, president of
B'nai B'rith Great Lakes Region.

Theological Seminary of America.
Jennifer Cohn of Southfield received a
bachelor of arts degree from List
College. Robert Gamer of Detroit was
ordained a rabbi. Daniel Najman
received a master of sacred music degree
and was ordained a cantor.

Jeffrey Stone, 21, of West Bloomfield
won three gold medals at the Michigan
Special Olympics May 30-June 1 at
Central Michigan
University. The for-

meter freestyles and
