Del McCoury Band with the Saline
Fiddlers Philharmonic, jazz styling will
be steered by pianist Ahmad Jamal
and the Manhattan Transfer and
American themes are to be presented
by the River City Brass Band.
Scottish folk tunes will be played by
the Bonnie Rideout Scottish Trio and
the City of Washington Pipe Band,
contemporary numbers are to be sung
by Rockapella and guitarist Sharon
Isbin will contribute classical pieces.
Mexican melodies as defined by the
Kronos Quartet and hip-hop brought
together through Rennie Harris
Puremovement — Legends of Hip-
Hop also will be featured.
Tributes in song will be offered to
honor rock composer Stevie Wonder,
by jazz vocalist Nnenna Freelon, and
folk artist Harry Chapin, through a
Chapin Family concert.
Dance programs include Rhythm in
Shoes and Peter Sparling in Bodytalk:
A Vaudeville for Dancing Man at
Middle Age, while innovative presen-
ters are found in Steven Berkoff, re-
creating Shakespeare's Villains, and
Marc Smith and the Pong Jam Slam,
offering contemporary poetry. ❑
