0 n Super Bowl Sunday, most
people thinkfootball, but
Rhonda Newburg and Jeff
Schwartz think romance.
"We were fixed up through mutual
friends, and we went to Streetside
Seafood in Birmingham," recalls
Rhonda. "We ended up closing the
place."
Rhonda Newburg, a social worker,
and Jeff Schwartz, a private investor,
became engaged three years later, after
their first date on Super Bowl Sunday.
Since Jeff's parents live in New York,
his brother resides in Hawaii and
Rhonda's parent's live in Oak Park, half
of the guests would have to travel to
the wedding. The couple then decided
to turn the wedding weekend into a
vacation for all involved. They decided
on a September 30 wedding at the
world-famous oceanfront Breakers
Hotel in Palm Beach, and hired wed-
ding coordinator Linda Kessler, of Boca
Raton, to organize the details of their
destination wedding. "She made it lots
of fun, and gave us many choices," says
Rhonda.
Rabbi David Nelson of Congregation
Beth Shalom performed the marriage
ceremony in the gold room. "It was
very romantic and family oriented,"
says Rabbi Nelsol who befriended Jeff
when he first moved to Michi•an. .,..._

"It was a gorgeowqmr.a.ste.fuly

The unforeseeable factor in the
we ing p ans was the horrific 6 e.n.ts
on September 11 because
tees were reluctant to travel.
But, to all who attended, the wed-
ding was festive and special.
