Jacalyn Faith Gendloff was called to
the Torah as a bat mitzvah on
Saturday, June 1, at the Isaac Agree
Downtown Synagogue. She is the
daughter of Celia and Mitchell
Gendloff. Jacalyn is the granddaugh-
ter of Evelyn and Glen Gendloff and
Marilyn Shamie
and the late
Abraham Shamie.
She is also the
great-granddaugh-
ter of Rose
Weinstein and the
late Eli Weinstein.
Jacalyn is an
honor student at
Novi Meadows
school. She enjoys in-line skating,
soccer and building snowmen. She
will be spending her summer at
Tamarack Camps. Jacalyn found it
meaningful to volunteer at Yad Ezra
in Berkley as part of her mitzvah
project. Over the years, Jacalyn and
her Girl Scout troop have participat-
ed in bake sales and the funds were
delivered to local charities. Her troop
also participated in Novi's Plant and
Grow program.
Ian Eliot Goldberg will be called to
the Torah as a bar mitzvah at
Congregation Shaarey Zedek
Southfield Saturday, June 8. He is the
son of Lisa, and Steven Goldberg and
brother of Perry and Jolie. Proud
grandparents are
Robert and Susan
Gans. Suzanne
Schatz and Harriet
Goldberg. Thrilled
great-grandmother
is Ida Winnick.
Ian is a seventh-
grade honor stu-
dent at Walnut
Creek Middle
School in Walled Lake. He enjoys
music, art, in-line hockey, skate-
boarding, basketball, snowboarding
and summers at Camp Tamakwa in
Canada. His mitzvah work included
visits to area assisted living facilities
and serving lunch to the homeless in
Detroit with the Shaarey Zedek Men's
Club. Ian plans to donate a portion
of his bar mitzvah money to the
Friends of the Israel Defense Forces.
Brandon Michael Kay will be called to
the Torah as a bar mitzvah at.Temple
Beth El on Saturday, June 8. He is the
son of Dr. Richard and Karen Kay and
brother of Jenna Marie Kay. Proud
