Bar/Bat Mitzvah

Sarah Tamar Baruch will celebrate
becoming a bat
mitzvah on
Saturday, June 8, at
Congregation
Shaarey Zedek West
Bloomfield, B'nai
Israel Center. She is
the daughter of Dr.
Murray and Linda
Baruch and sister of
Jeremy and Adam.
Her proud grandparents are Beverly
Weingarden and Ann and Leonard
Baruch.
Sarah is an honor student at Hillel
Day School of Metropolitan Detroit in
Farmington Hills. She enjoys playing
the piano, swimming and tennis. She
attends summer camp in Hoshaya,
Israel.

Steven Ryan Benson, son of Lori and
Dr. Kim Benson,
will read from the
Torah on the occa-
sion of his bar mitz-
vah on Saturday,
June 8, at Temple
Israel. He is the
brother of Justin.
Proud grandparents
are Bernice and
Albert Organek and
Esther Benson. He is the grandson of
the late Edward Benson.
An honor student at Abbott Middle
School in West Bloomfield, Steven is
interested in singing, acting, Tamarack
Camps, golf, snow- and water-skiing,
soccer and track. His most significant
mitzvah project involved setting up a
lemonade stand, which resulted in a
substantial amount of money being
raised to help the families of firefighters
who perished on Sept. 11.

Benjamin Abraham Chesterman
will be called to the Torah as a bar
mitzvah on Saturday, June 8, at
Congregation Beth Shalom. He is
the son of Barry Chesterman and
Elaine Webber and
brother of Nathan,
Miriam and Ari.
He is the grandson
of Mark and Ruth
Webber and
Harvey and Joy
Chesterman.
Benjamin is a
seventh-grade
honor student at
Hillel Day School of Metropolitan
Detroit in Farmington Hills. His
interests include . sports, reading and
summers at Habonim Camp Tavor
in Three Rivers. He is making a con-
tribution to the camp scholarship
fund. Benjamin worked on the Make
A Doll project at Hadassah House in
West Bloomfield, volunteered at the
Farmington Hills-based JARC
Chanukah party, helped host the
homeless at Congregation Beth
Shalom and served as a leader in
training at the Huntington Woods
day camp program.

Sasha Alexander Asher Fields will be
called to the Torah as a bat mitzvah
on Saturday, June 8, at Temple
Israel. She is the daughter of Dr.
Richard and
Jessica D. Fields
and sister of
Jeremy Thurman.
Other proud fami-
ly members are
Karen, Gary,
Michelle, Ryan
and Jessica L.
Happy grand-
mother is Rachel
Joyce Langton; delighted great-
grandmother is Helen Maureen
Thurman. Sasha is also the grand-
daughter of the late Shirley and
William Fields, Jesse W. Thurman
and William C. Langton; she is the
great-granddaughter of the late Dale
M. Thurman and Faye and Harry
Golobow.
Sasha is an all-A student at Abbott
Middle School in West Bloomfield,
where she is a seventh-grade cheer-
leader. Her other interests include
music and attending Camp Seagull
in Charlevoix. Her most rewarding
mitzvah project was serving
Christmas dinner to the homeless at
the Pontiac Rescue Mission. She also
contributed to the Jewish National
Fund.
