president, Jackier initiated a taskforce
for women, designed to enhance the
role of women both as leaders and
contributors within the organization.

Transforming The World

Nancy Gad-Harf, the Farmington
Hills-based director of the East
Central Region for ATS, jokingly
referred to MIT as the "Technion of
the United States."
"Anyone who works with the
Technion has the opportunity to
transform the world, to make Israel a
safe, vibrant community, and to
strengthen it so it will continue to
survive," she said.
Dr. B. Joseph White, interim presi-
dent of the University of Michigan,
Jackier's alma mater, said that visiting
Technion six years ago was one of the
most powerful experiences of his life.
"Larry Jackier exemplifies the finest
qualities of a U of M alumni," White
said, presenting Jackier with a foot-
ball signed by Lloyd Carr, coach of
the Michigan Wolverines.
Ricky Blumenstein, president of
the Detroit ATS Chapter, said,
"Technion mind power sheds many
bright lights. Supporting Technion is
like teaching someone to fish instead
of giving them fish. It's helping Israel
become more and more self-suffi-
cient every year."
Jackier thanked his family, his law
partners and his many mentors in
the United States and in Israel for
their support.
"Those of us who have the time and
opportunity to go out into the commu-
nity and give something of ourselves
can only do it because of the support of
our families," Jackier said. 'And I hope
the focal point of this. evening will ulti-
mately be on Technion. It's a means to
an end — a very good end — and we
cant ever stop.
"I'm as proud as a son could possi-
bly be," said Jackier's son, Seth, who
traveled here from Chicago with his
wife, Corey.
Edythe Jackier, Larry's mother, sec-
onded the sentiment. "I don't think a
parent could be happier or more
proud," she said.
Larry Jackier and his father, the
late Joseph H. Jackier, are the only
father-son team named as honorary
fellows of the Technion. ❑
