JERRY A. W
Arbor, died May 24.
Dr. Weisbach received his bachelor's
degree in chemistry summa cum laude
from Brooklyn College and his doctorate
in organic chemistry from Harvard
University. He began his career at Smith,
Kline and French Laboratories in
Philadelphia and was eventually promot-
ed to vice president of research with
responsibility for, all discovery research
and initial clinical studies in humans. In
1979, Dr. Weisbach was appointed presi-
dent of the Parke Davis Research
Division of the Warner Lambert
Company in Ann Arbor. In that capacity,
he was responsible for all pharmaceutical
research and development efforts of the
corporation.
After retiring as a corporate vice presi-
dent of Warner Lambert in 1987, Dr.
Weisbach served as the DeRoy visiting
professor in the honors program at the
University of Michigan. In 1988, he
joined Rockefeller University as director
of technology transfers and adjunct pro-
fessor. He served as a company director,
advisory board member and consultant
to numerous biotech companies, includ-
ing Immunomedics and Genentech -
Limited Partnership.
Dr. Weisbach authored 95 publications
and had 33 patents in chemistry and
biology. He served as chair of the
Pharmaceutical Manufacturers
Association Research and Development
section and chair of the Gordon Research
Conference on Medicinal Chemistry. He
held an honorary doctorate in science.
from Eastern Michigan University and
was a member of the American Chemical
Society, the American Association for the
Advancement of Science and the Royal
Society of Medicine.
Locally, Dr. Weisbach was one of the
founders of the Ann Arbor Hands-On
Museum, was on the board of the Ann
Arbor Summer Festival and the board
and senate of the University Musical
Society.
He is survived by his wife; Elise
Weisbach; sons dild daughters-in-law,
Michael and Amy Weisbach . of Illinois,
David and Joan Weisbach of Chicago;
daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and
Michael Ory of New Jersey; grandchil-
dren, Richard, Beth, Mara, liana and

Jonathon Weisbach and Sarah Ory.
Interment at Arborcrest Cemetery.
Contributions may be made to the Jerry
Weisbach Fund at Comprehensive
Cancer Center at U of M Health System,
1500 Medical Center Drive, Ann Arbor,
MI 48109. Arrangements by Ira
Kaufman Chapel.

GEORGE YELLIN, 81, of Jacksonville,
Fla., died May 25.
He was born in Long Island and attend-
ed Far Rockaway High school. He gradu-
ated from Eastern Michigan University
with a bachelor of science degree in phys-
ical education. He then served in the
U.S. Navy during World War II. Later,
he was a partner in House of Appliance
in Mt. Clemens.
Mr. Yellin was a member of Beth
Tephilath Moses Synagogue and served as
its treasurer for many years. In addition,
he was a commander of the Macomb
County Jewish War Veterans as well as
the president of the Harvey Levenberg
B'nai B'rith Lodge. While serving on the
Mt. Clemens Chamber of Commerce, he
was.instrumental in relighting the Mt.
Clemens business area. He also served as
president of the Wilson School Parent-
Teacher Association and was a member of
the Kiwanis Club.
Mr. Yellin is survived by his beloved
wife, Elsie Yellin; daughters and sons-in-
law, Ruchel and Dr. Stephen Broadman of
Jacksonville, Cynthia and Dr. Richard
Aronsohn of Boca Raton, Fla., Dr. Margo
and Dr. Douglas Woll of West Bloomfield;
grandchildren, Dr. Melissa Broadman, Dr.
Jennifer (Dr. Jay) Kugler, Suzanne
Broadman, Dr. Michael (Andrea)
Aronsohn, Dr. Andrew Aronsohn,
Samantha Woll and Monica Woll.
Graveside services were held at the
Beth Tephilath Moses Cemetery.
Contributions may be made to the
American Diabetes Association, 30600
Telegraph Road, Suite 2255, Bingham
Farms, MI 48025 or to a charity of one's
choice. Arrangements by Dorfman
Chapel.

BETTY ZAMSKY, 89, of Southfield,
died May 23.
She is survived by her brothers and sis-
ters-in-law, William and- Janice Bronstein
of Naples, Fla., Martin and Madeline
Bronstein of Oak Park; sister, Millie
Mintz of Southfield; daughter-in-law,
Nina Zamsky of oak Park. Sister-in-law,
Ellanore Bronstein; grandchild, Meredith
Zamsky. She was the beloved wife of the
late Willard Zamsky; beloved mother of
the late Howard Zamsky.
Contributions may be made to
Hospice of Michigan or the Michigan
Cancer Foundation. Interment and serv-
ices at B'nai Israel Gardens.
Arrangements by Hebrew Memorial
Chapel.
