Wendy Kohlenberg

The Greater Detroit Chapter of
Hadassah presented the National
Leadership Award to Wendy B.
Kohlenberg of West Bloomfield at the
chapter installation May 21. She has
been an active member of Hadassah
since 1990 and has held many posi-
tions within the
Mitzvah Group. She is
the chapter's vice pres-
ident of membership.
Kohlenberg was the
first young woman
from Detroit to par-
ticipate in National
Hadassah's Young
Wendy
Leaders Mission to
Kohlenberg
Israel in October
1998. Following her
trip, she and Ruach Group member
Randi Simko organized a series of
workshops for young women to gain
more leadership knowledge and to
become more involved in Hadassah.
Recently, she was co-chair of the
Hadassah Midwest Area Cooperative's
first Young Women's Institute in
Chicago.
Kohlenberg has led the chapter's
Training Wheels/A1 Galgalim educa-
tion program that teaches families how
to celebrate the Jewish holidays. She
is involved in Ealy Elementary's PTO,
and is on the planning committees for
Farmington Hills-based JARC's annual
golf outing and Temple Israel's New
Year's Eve party.

HMC Trains
New Docents

The Holocaust Memorial Center will
begin its new docent training session 10
a.m. Wednesday, June 19, with an ori-
entation. The center is at 6602 W.
Maple Road in West Bloomfield.
Docents will learn to guide groups on
walking tours through the HMC,
explain the exhibits and interpret the
history and lessons of the Holocaust.
Coordinating the training program will
be master docent Judy Miller, an HMC
board member and retired teacher.
Training sessions can be tailored to
meet participants' needs and personal
schedules. Docent candidates may com-
plete the training at their own pace.
Once they have finished the program,
they may choose the day or days on
which they would like to serve.
