Dr. Nagler's Brainwashing
Weight Reduction Seminar

FIDV chapter are volunteers and, to
save money, there will be no local
rented office or paid director,
Gottfried said.
"We are encouraging as many peo-
ple as possible to hold parlor meetings
as our major means of raising money,"
Jackier said. "The awareness factor is
crucial here. The rehab centers now
carry an extra load because of the
addition of civilian care, and we want
to make sure everyone is aware of how
our help is needed by
both soldiers and civil-
ians."
Thanks to the physi-
cal and mental rehabili-
tation offered at the
FIDV-supported centers,
Danny Wagner, 60, now
is an executive in private
industry in Tel Aviv. His
son, Yuval Wagner, 36, is
still in the air force. He
holds the rank of lieu-
tenant colonel and works on computer-
ized flight systems for pilots near Petach
Tikvah.
Dr. Gershoni was 26 in 1969 when
a bomb explosion maimed him at the
border with Jordan. Despite the loss of
his hands and eyesight, he went on to
obtain a doctorate. He now is a pro-
fessor at Tel Aviv University, heading

two departments. Using hooks for
hands, Dr. Gershoni also rides horses
and became an equestrian champion
in the Special Olympics.
"He needed emotional as well as
physical rehabilitation, and he got just
that at a Beit Halochem Center,"
Gottfried said.
Tabib, 39, the former paratrooper,
now lives in Boston. He has under-
gone 100 surgeries on his face, neck
and hands since the tank fire, but he

Robin. and
Howard
Schwartz of
West Bloomfield
hosted a reception
to raise awareness
about the new
organization
to aid Israel's
disabled veterans.
