Beth Ahm Hosts
Cub Scout Troop
Aish Offers
Hebrew Class
Congregation Beth Ahm hosted an
organizational meeting in April to
start a Cub Scout troop. Another
informational meeting is scheduled
for June 5, open to anyone regardless
of synagogue affiliation.
The youngsters will go to Detroit
Comerica Park to participate in New
Scouts Day, when new Cub Scouts
are invited to the ballpark before the
game and given the opportunity to
walk the bases. Other upcoming
activities include a scavenger hunt at
Greenfield Village in dearborn.
For information, call the office of
Beth Ahm, (248) 851-6880.
Aish HaTorah will run a crash course in
Hebrew reading beginning May 20.
The course will be for five consecutive
weeks; each class will be 1.5 hours long.
The course is for anyone who
would like to be able to read prayer-
book Hebrew; it would also be help-
ful to those with an upcoming family
celebration such as a bar/bat mitzvah
or bris or anyone planning a trip to
Israel since it is taught with the
Sephardic pronunciation common in
Israel.
Dr. Joel Zacks will teach the class.
For information or to register, call
Aish HaTorah, (248) 593-5138.
