Editorial Page Editor To Addresses Council "Finding a Balance: Anti-Terrorism and Civil Liberties" will be the theme of the Jewish Community Council of Metropolitan Detroit's annual meeting to be held 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 21, at Congregation Shaarey Zedek Southfield. , Nolan Finley, edito- rial page editor of the Detroit News, will Nolan Finley examine the meeting's theme in his keynote address. The evening will feature the presentation of the 2002 Activist of the Year Award to Elaine C. Driker, the - founding co-chair of the Detroit Jewish Initiative, with a personal introduction by Butch Hollowell, a Detroit attorney and developer. During the program the Walter E. Klein Youth Award will be awarded. Finley has been at the helm of the Detroit News editorial board since May 2000 and has been an outspoken sup- porter of Israel's right to defend itself. He directs the expression of the news- paper's editorial position on various national and local issues and writes a Sunday column. The evening will begin with a dessert reception followed by recogni- tion of employee and volunteers of the year and keynote address by Carol Weisman, author, trainer and consult- ant. Weisman, president of Board Builders, specializes in volunteerism, fund-raising and governance. She has served on 24 boards and presided over seven. She won a Telly Award for her PBS special "Building a Board with a Passion for Mission."
