logue leaders Lisa Lis of Farmington
Hills and Brenda Rosenberg of
Bloomfield Hills.
"But it also brought together groups
of adults," he says of participants that
included parents, teachers, rabbis and
peace activists from various organiza-
tions.
2There's never been a more pressing
time for expansive thinking, expansive
listening and expansive solutions," says
Rabbi Scott Bolton of Hillel Day
School of Metropolitan Detroit, who
has attended various pro-Israel rallies
in the last few weeks.
Taking a break from leading a chant
of "We want peace," Jennifer Bloom;
16, of West Bloomfield explains the
philosophy of her group. "The goal of
Seeds of Peace is to start teaching
peace from seedlings and then grow
from there."
The nonprofit, non-political Seeds
of Peace was formed to promote dia-
logue between Arab and Jewish kids
and adults, and to create an environ-
ment of understanding and coexis-
tence between the Arab and Jewish
communities.
As rally participants began to dis-
burse, they reminded one another of
their next group function later that
week — Shabbat dinner at the home
of member Miriam Liebman, 15, of
Farmington Hills.
"The goal of the group is to start
slow," Brenda Rosenberg says. "We
put on hold political issues — and
start with friendships."
