B'nai David Marks
110th Anniversary

Congregation B'nai David will cele-
brate its 110th anniversary with a
special Shabbat service on Saturday,
May 11.
Originally founded as an
Orthodox synagogue, the congrega-
tion is unaffiliated and classifies
itself as Traditional. It utilizes an
Orthodox prayer book and its servic-
es generally follow Orthodox cus-
tom. However, the congregation per-
mits family-style seating.
Arthur Doppelt, president of the
congregation, said B'nai David not
only has supported Jewish causes,
but also has been on the forefront of
support for the State of Israel
through its Israel Bonds program. Its
members have been recognized as
leaders of other community organi-
zations. Past clergy who have served
the community include Rabbis
Joshua Sperka, Hayim HaLevi
Donin and Morton Yolkut and
Cantor Hyman Adler.
The congregation holds services at
the Hadassah House on Orchard
Lake Road in West Bloomfield.
For information on the syna-
gogue, call (248) 855-5007.
