**0 Lecture Focus: Mideast Conflict Dr. Mark Tessler will speak on "The Israeli-Palestinian Conflict: Where We Are and How We Got There" at the annual Leon and Hilda Lucas lecture 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 8, at Congregation Beth Shalom. The program, co-sponsored by the Institute for Retired _Professionals and the Cultural Commission of Congregation Beth Shalom, is open to the public at no charge. A dessert reception will fol- low. An Israeli buffet dinner will be available, by advance reservation, from 6-7:30 p.m. Cost is $12 per person for adults and $6 for children under 12. Dr. Tessler, who is the Samuel J. Eldersveld Collegiate Professor of Political Science at the University of Michigan, will assess recent develop- ments in the conflict and present both the Israeli and Palestinian per- . spectives. B'nai Moshe Offers Shiur Congregation B'nai Moshe's three-part spring study series for adult learners, "Get Yourself a Teacher," featuring Zohar Raviv, Frankel Fellow in Jewish Thought and Mysticism in the Department of Near Eastern and Judaic Studies at the University of Michigan, will 'conclude 7:30 p.m. Monday, May 6. There will be a 90-minute uni- versity-level shiur (discourse) on "The Binding of Isaac in Post- Biblical Literature." Tuition is $10 ($8 for members of the con- gregation). It is open to all adult learners whether or not they have attended any previous sessions. No knowledge of Hebrew is required. Advance registration is encouraged, but students may also register at the door. Temple Offers Support Groups The Michigan Tremor Support group offers support for those suffering from essential Tremor or Parkinson's Disease. The monthly meetings are held at Temple Israel on Thursdays at 7 p.m. The group is open to the community free of charge. The next meeting will be May 9 at Temple Israel. PATH (Positive Attitude Toward Health) MS support group holds meet- ings twice a month on Thursdays at 7 p.m. at Temple Israel. The first session of the month is a support group and at the second session, the group meets with a speaker. Future dates are May 9, May 23, June 13, June 27, July 11, July 25, Aug. 8, Aug. 29. On Thursday, May 23, Dr. Saab, a chiropractor who treats people with MS, will speak. The group is open to the community free of charge. Beth Shalom Plans Services Congregation Beth Shalom offers serv- ices tailored to the needs of people of all ages. Tot Shabbat and the family service, which are scheduled for next Shabbat, May 11, are usually held monthly on the second Shabbat of the month. Hebrew school services are two weeks later. Tot Shabbat is prepared for children 272-6 and includes creative movement and music. Led by Cantor Samuel Greenbaum and Lainie Phillips, the service is held in the synagogue's pre- school room from 10-10:45 a.m. The family service is geared for older children and is held in the chapel. In addition to the prayer serv- ice, there is an educational component appropriate to the age group. Parents are invited to join their children in the 11 a.m. service. Children of bar-bat mitzvah age or older are welcome in the main sanctu- ary beginning at 9 a.m. Babysitting is available during all Shabbat and holy day services, beginning at 10 a.m. Newborn children are welcome to attend services with their parents.
