JCCouncil Lauds Elaine Driker The Jewish Community Council of Metropolitan Detroit will present its 2002 Activist of the Year Award to Elaine C. Driker at the Council's annual meeting 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 21, at Congregation Shaarey Zedek Southfield. The Activist of the Year Award was developed to honor a special individual whose efforts have helped to achieve Council's mission by advancing Jewish interests and build- ing constructive relationships with our ethnically and religiously diverse Elaine Driker neighbors. Those wishing to acknowledge Driker may purchase a tribute in her honor through the Council. A pre-glow recep- tion will be held in Driker's honor for individuals who purchase tributes at the platinum level. A list of tributes will be included in the annual meeting pro- gram. Tributes must be placed by May 13 to be listed. Driker is a founding co-chair of the Detroit Jewish Initiative (DJI), a Council project that actively involves the Jewish community in projects to enhance the quality of city life in Detroit. Driker's efforts have built inter- personal relationships and understand- ing between communities and have helped communicate the commitment of the Jewish community to the advancement of the city of Detroit.
