elebrating a new friendship with members of the
Third Baptist Church in Detroit, Congregation
Shaarey Zedek West Bloomfield, B'nai Israel
Center hosted an April 7 model seder.
"Together, going over the ritual of Passover and sur-
rounded by spiritual choir music, we discovered how
much we like each other," says Rabbi Leonardo Bitran.
The Rev. Jacob Adams Jr., along with Rabbis Bitran,
Jonathan Berkun and Joseph Krakoff facilitated an after-
noon of learning, discovery and enjoyment for nearly
100 guests.
"Great plans to do joint programs and involve our
youth are in the works," Rabbi Bitran says. "As Rev.
Adams said in his letter to the rabbis of Shaarey Zedek,
`It was an enlightening experience and everyone was so
receptive. It warms my heart to know this is an ongoing
relationship.'"
Rabbi Bitran feels the same way. "Indeed, we want
more, our people want more of this friendship with our
brothers and sisters of the Third Baptist Church in
Detroit."
