Volunteering at the Fleischman Residence in West Bloomfield was one of his more meaningful mitzvah projects. Noah Michael Blumenthal was called to the Torah as a bar mitzvah on Saturday, March 23, at Congregation Beth Israel in Ann Arbor. His very proud parents are Dr. Robert Blumenthal and Beth Dwoskin. Noah's twin sisters Judy and Sophia shared in the simchah as did his grandpar- ents Dr. Harold Blumenthal and Dr. Doris Blumenthal of Chicago and David and Gert Dwoskin of Southfield. Noah attends Tappan Middle School in Ann Arbor. He loves read- ing, writing and science. He is a pianist and also plays the drums. Noah requested that guests sharing his simchah make donations to his favorite charities instead of giving him gifts. • Caitlin Rose Bonner (Esther Raizel) will celebrate her bat mitzvah on Saturday, April 27, at Temple Emanu- El. She is the daughter of Eugene and Tina Bonner and sister of Sarah, Emily, David and Meagan. She is the granddaughter of Olivia Bonner of Ann Arbor. Caitlin is a sev- enth-grade student at Jane Addams Middle School in Royal Oak. She participates in the Humane Society Charity Club, is a journalist for the school newspaper and enjoys singing, basketball'and football. She has been a member of the Temple Youth Choir for four years. Caitlin's mitzvah projects included working at Jewish Experiences for Families' Apples & Honey, helping out in the temple library and at the Purim carnival. She also worked at Yad Ezra in Berkley. Rachel Sher Borenstein, daughter of Dr. Susan and Kenneth Baker and Jon and Karen Borenstein, will read from the Torah on the occa- sion of her bat mitzvah on Saturday, April 27, at Temple Israel. Her proud grand- parents are Sydelle and Dr. Leslie Sher and Blanche and Bernard Borenstein. Excited great-grandparents are Gertrude and Louis Schwartz Rachel enjoys drawing and paint- ing, playing the cello and water- and snow-skiing. She attends Cranbrook- Kingswood School in Bloomfield Hills. As part of her mitzvah projects, she volunteered at Yad Ezra in Berkley and assisted at Temple Israel's office. Cortney Nicole Chimoff will be called to the Torah as a bat mitzvah on Saturday, April 27, at Congregation Beth Shalom. Sharing in this special occa- sion will be her parents, Cookie and Bart Chimoff, and younger sister Taylor. Cortney is the granddaughter of proud grandparents Shirlee Bloom Feroni and Minna and Sam Chimoff. She is also the granddaughter of the late Anthony. Feroni and Ida Chimoff. Cortney is a seventh-grade honor student at Norup Middle School in Oak Park. She plays soccer and enjoys swimming, boating, camping and spending time outdoors. For the past three summers, she has been a coun- selor at E.L. Johnson Nature Camp in Bloomfield Hills, an outdoor day camp for children. Included in her many mitzvah projects, Cortney vol- unteers with the Friendship Circle and visits the seniors at the Coville Apartments in Southfield. She is also active with the Woodstrivers' Say No to Drugs program in Huntington Woods. When Congregation Beth Shalom housed the homeless, Cortney helped prepare and serve the meals.
