Sinai Memorial Park in Los Angeles. Contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice. TOBY HERSEN, 89, of Farmington Hills, died April 12. She was born in Strykow, Poland. Mrs. Hersen was a pharmacist. She was also a lifelong Zionist. She and her husband, Ben Hersen, survived the Holocaust and came to the United States in 1950 by way of Sweden and Canada. A long-time Oak Park resident, she was a member of Na'amat and was fluent in several languages. Mrs. Hersen is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Flo4rence and Joel Steinberg, Susan and Barry Gross; grandchildren, Diana Steinberg, Jonathan Steinberg, Danielle Steinberg, Lauren Gross, Caroline Gross ; Paul Gross. He is survived by his wife, Sharon; son, Zachary; daughter, Chelsey; parents, Morris and Sara Hoff of Delray beach, Fla.; brothers and sis- ter-in-law, Dr. Steven Hoff and Sheila Kent of Sarasota, Phillip and Frannie Hoff of Brooklyn; mother- in-law, Louise Baughman of Sarasota. Services were held in Sarasota. WARREN A. HUSID, 46, of Muskegon, died April 16. He attended the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, N.Y., where he graduated with an associate of occupational science culinary arts degree in 1978. He then received his bachelor's degree at Davenport College in Grand Rapids. Mr. Husid received many awards during his career, including the Southwest Michigan Chefs de Cuisine Association Diploma of Merit and the regional chapter Award of Excellence for Chef and Child; he had been Chef of the Year for two years. The American Culinary Federation certified Mr. Husid as an executive chef and he was inducted into the American Academy of Chefs in 1996. In addi- tion, he was founder of and presi- dent of the Lakeshore Chapter of ASCF and served as chair of the local Chef and Child Foundation for the American Culinary Federation, Southwestern Michigan Chapter. He was employed by Baker College in Muskegon as the department chair of culinary arts and food and bever- age management and was instrumen- tal in establishing the Marquette Room, a fine-dining restaurant located on the Baker College Campus. His culinary arts program grew from 25 students to 150 stu- dents in five years. He was also a member and past secretary of the Muskegon Recreation Club. Mr. Husid is survived by his beloved wife, Mary; daughter, Deana Mansfield of Grand Rapids; grand- son, Brenden; mother, Helen Husid of West Bloomfield; brother, Harley Husid of Spring Lake; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Richard and Donna Mansfeild of Bailey; broth- ers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Michael Mansfield, James and Susan Mansfield, Michelle and Richard Stewart, Diana and Daniel Walcott.
