STATE OF MICHIGAN

OFFICE OF THE GOVERNOR

LANSING

JOHN ENGLER

GOVERNOR

April 21, 2002

Dear Friends:

As Governor of the State of Michigan, it gives me great pleasure to
congratulate the Jewish Community Center of Metropolitan Detroit (JCC) on the
occasion of the 75' anniversary of its founding.

The JCC has, throughout the years, fostered an increased interest in the
Jewish heritage, culture and history, as well as strengthened the bonds of their
community by collecting, preserving and disseminating the culture of the Jewish
people.

To everyone gathered for this momentous anniversary celebration, Mazel Toy
on your success of 75 wonderful years! At this time, I would like to urge you to
recognize the founders of the JCC, whose pride in their rich heritage and
commitment to the betterment of their community inspired them to establish this
organization. Their vision, dedication and wisdom pioneered the fine tradition for
which the JCC is so well-regarded today.

Once again, congratulations. Please accept my best wishes for an enjoyable
celebration and continued success.

Sincerely,

John Engler
Governor
