The 75-year history of the Jewish Community Center is one that is rich
in tradition and leadership. Our past presidents, board members and
professional staff have contributed to the growth and development of
our JCC. The collective energy, input and financial support of our
community members has allowed us to continually strive for excellence.
Our current efforts in community outreach have earned us partnerships
with synagogues and temples, with Jewish organizations and agencies,
with the civic community and the non-Jewish community as well.
Seeking coalitions and partnerships has allowed the JCC to become a
catalyst for varied and effective programs involving children and
adults.
With two campuses situated in unique Jewish communities, we are in a
position to reach out to affiliated and non-affiliated Jews. Our efforts have been well rewarded as we posi-
tion ourselves to become the center for informal Jewish education in our community.
The definitive efforts to enhance the Jewish learning opportunities at the JCC have proven to be effective.
Whether it be our Annual Jewish Book Fair, Seminars for Adult Jewish Enrichment-SAJE, the Florence
Melton Adult Mini-School or the Lenore Marwil Jewish Film Festival, we are continuously integrating
Jewish learning into every aspect of our JCC. Our board and our staff have been motivated and chal-
lenged by our learning experiences.
The next 75 years of the Jewish Community Center will present additional challenges and goals worth
attaining. With the continual financial and emotional support of the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan
Detroit, the United Jewish Foundation and United Way Community Services, as well as the support of
countless other foundations and individuals, our future is assured.
Our Jewish Community Center is ready to serve our entire community. While we are enormously proud of
our history and prior accomplishments, we have not become complacent. We are united cohesively to plan,
to institute and to achieve a sense of excellence for the future.
Join us as we collectively embark on 75 more enormously successful years in our future.
