in 1985, Ben-Hur has played at
dubs around New York and estab-
lished himself as a teacher. A favorite
spot is La Belle Epoque, where he
performs once or twice a month.
His teaching places him with
adults at the Lucy Moses School
and with youngsters at two alter-
native high schools, Landmark
and the Coalition for Social
Change. Bette Midler is a sponsor
of his teen teaching program, and
they talk regularly about it.
"I use jazz to teach people how
to play," says Ben-Hur, who is mar-
ried to singer Amy London and has
two children. The guitarist's last
two recordings — Sofia's Butterfly
(TCB Music) and Anna's Dance
