Holocaust Museum

Cancels Israel Trip

Washington/JTA -2— The U. S.
Holocaust Memorial Museum can-
celed a trip for its staff to attend a
survivors' conference in Israel. The
museum leadership thought "very
hard" about the decision, but securi-
ty concerns for staff were paramount,
according to a museum spokesman.
The conference is scheduled to take
place at the Yad Vashem Holocaust
Memorial in Jerusalem from April 8-
11.

Gun/JCC
Link Nixed

Los Angeles/JTA — A U.S. judge
ruled that gun manufacturers were
not responsible for a 1999 shooting
spree by a white supremacist at a Los
Angeles JCC.
Judge Audrey Collins dismissed a
civil lawsuit filed by the parents of
three children injured in the shootings
and by the mother of a postal worker
killed soon after the spree.
Collins said the plaintiffs failed to
prove a link between the gun manu-
facturers' marketing strategies and
the shootings. Buford Furrow Jr. is
serving two life sentences plus 110
years in jail for the August 1999
attack.

Porn Film Not

Shot At Terezin

Prague/JTA — Czech officials have
quashed plans to shoot scenes for a
porn film at the former wartime
transit camp of Terezin.
Officials banned the use of video
cameras at Terezin after reports that a
porn movie would be shot there.
"I did the only thing I could do,"
Jan Munk, director of a monument
to Terezin's victims, said. Munk's
move came after the Czech tabloid
Super reported Saturday that the
film, starring top Czech porn star
Robert Rosenberg, is set at the end
of World War II and will tell the
story of how women at the camp
were raped by Nazis.
