To refresh yourself on the basics of
the holiday, see Pesach Made Easy by
renowned Torah law adjudicator Rav
Mordechai Tendler ($10 at Borenstein's
in Oak Park). This book, mercifully
slim to allow more time for Pesach
cleaning, includes "at-a-glance" charts
and common sense guidance to holiday
preparations and observance. The kids
will love this tip:. "You have an obliga-
tion to distribute candy to the children
during the seder."
For music to keep you humming
while you dust, try Pesach with Rebbi
Alter (his song about "Pharoah in paja-
mas in the middle of the night" is a real
kicker), A Singable Seder or Journey
Through the Seder. The late opera star
and cantor Jan Peerce sings The Seder
Service (tapes $10-12 at Spitzer's in
Southfield).
Kitchen Talk
Holiday cooking is aided by the New
York Times Passover Cookbook ($25 at
Spitzer's), featuring delectables such as
Chef Wolfgang Puck's potato onion
latkes and Mimi Sheraton's matzah brei.
Or, for some really creative fare, try
Matza 101 ($18 at Esther's in West
Bloomfield), with 101 recipes for trans-
forming the Pesach staple into every-
thing from matzah gefilte fish enchi-
ladas to matzah baklava.
Accessories like Matzah print
potholders and oven mitts really take
