has been appointed to the board of
trustees of the Skillman Foundation,

Detroit. Taubman is president and
CEO of Taubman Centers Inc., a real
estate investment trust that owns,
• develops and operates regional shop-
ping centers nationally. He is a mem-
ber of the board of governors of the
National Association of Real Estate
Investment Trusts and a member of
the board of directors of the Real
Estate Roundtable in Washington,
D.C.

Sarah Ross, 14, freshman at Yeshivas
Darchei Torah in Southfield, is a sec-
ond-place winner in a student essay
contest sponsored by Right to Life-
Lifespan of Metro Detroit. She won a
$400 savings bond.

Recognition Award.

Gideon Labiner, formerly of Flint,
will become assistant professor of
molecular diagnostics in the College
of Applied Health at the University of
Cincinnati. He is a certified member

of the American Society of Clinical
Pathologists.

Norah Labiner of Minneapolis, an
alumnus of Bloomfield Hills
Cranbrook, has been awarded a litera-
ture fellowship for 2002 by the
National Endowment for the Arts.
Labiner's debut novel was published
in 1998; her second novel is due out
later this year. She is an occasional
adjunct lecturer in creative writing at
the University of Minnesota and a
book reviewer for the Minneapolis Star

Steven Kaplan of West Bloomfield
has been appointed to serve as a
member of the State of Michigan's
Committee on the Rules of Criminal
Procedure. He is•an assistant prosecut-
ing attorney in Macomb County,
adjunct law professor at Michigan
State University-Detroit College of
Law and a township trustee in West
Bloomfield.

Daniel Hirschman of Southfield, son
