ennis and Linda Kayes had
supped in nice European
restaurants and traipsed
through the streets of Israel
on numerous vacations. In fact, the
Huntington Woods couple had made
their way through some of the most
fantastic locales in the Western world -
during memorable trips.
But they had never made it to the
Eastern world, a fact that left them
wanting more."
"We wanted to see what the other
half of the world was like," Dennis
said. "Besides that, we are big Chinese
food and tea fans."
Last summer, they fulfilled that
wish, spending more than two weeks
roaming the cities and countryside of
China. They scaled the Great Wall, ate
fabulous dinners in authentic Chinese
restaurants and purchased rare teas not
easily found in the United States. Led
by private guides at each stop, the pair
traveled to more than a half dozen
exotic cities, each more beautiful than
the last.
Together, they shot more than 50
rolls of film, mostly breathtaking
pictures of landmarks, landscapes
and local residents.
It, to the say the least, was a trip
to remember.
"We loved everything about
China," he said. "It was a great vaca-
tion."
The Kayes are among many who
have made great escapes out of vaca-
tions to interesting locales. These
trips, usually plotted with great care,
can be once-in-a-lifetime events or
can become the beginning of a trend
of planning regular take-your-
breath-away adventures, said
Rochelle Lieberman,, owner and
president of Gateway Travel in
Southfield.
