Temple Israel Sets Cantorial Concert "Voices of the American Cantorate" will be the theme of the upcoming concert at Temple Israel's Chapel Chamber series 7:30 p.m. Sunday, March 24. Featured will be Cantor Lori Corrsin and Mark Opatow, cantorial student at Hebrew Union College's School of Sacred Music in New York. Cantor Corrsin Opatow holds a master's degree in voice from the Aaron Copland School of Music at Queens - College and has performed with various groups throughout this country and Mark Opatow abroad. Cantors Sing At B'nai Moshe Members of the tri-state region of the Cantors Assembly of America (compris- ing Michigan, Ohio and western Pennsylvania) will sing at Congregation B'nai Moshe 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 20, in a benefit concert tided "The Songs We Sing: An Evening of Chazzanut and Jewish Music." Proceeds will support student scholarships and other activities of the CAA. Cantor Earl B. Berris of B'nai Moshe serves as chairman of the CAA tri-state region, whose members include cantors at Reform as well as Conservative con- gregations. In addition to Cantor Berris, 'performers at the concert will include Cantor Stephen Dubov of Temple Beth El and Cantor Samuel Greenbaum of Congregation Beth Shalom. Tickets may be purchased in advance at the B'nai Moshe synagogue office, (248) 788-0600, or at the door. General admission price for unreserved seating is $10 per person. There will be special reserved seating for concert supporters ($50 donation, which includes two tick- ets) and concert sponsors ($100 dona- tion, which includes two tickets). Temple Israel Plans An Enriched Oneg As part of Synagogue 2000, a super oneg will follow alternative services at Temple Israel on Friday, March 22, fea- turing sessions geared to different inter- ests. Choices include a songfest sing-along with Danny Singer and Scott Stern, a current events discussion with Robert Sklar, editor of the Jewish News, or a Torah study session with members of the Temple clergy.
