Panel Explores
JCC History

Personal reminiscences and historical
tidbits about the 75-year history of
the Jewish Community Center will
be presented during a panel discus-
sion, "Our Center — Past, Present
and Future," 7 p.m. Tuesday, March
19, at the JCC in West Bloomfield.
Panelists include JCC Executive
Director'Emeritus Irwin Shaw, U.S.
District Court Judge Avern Cohn
and Jewish Federation Lifetime
Achievement Award winner Melba
Winer.
Moderator will be David Gad-
Harf, executive director of the Jewish
Community Council of
Metropolitan Detroit. Chairing the
evening will be JCC board member
Debbie Levin.
The event is co-sponsored by the
JCC 75th anniversary committee and
the Institute of Retired Professionals.
It is part of the agency's 75th
anniversary celebration, chaired by
Linda Lee and Douglas Bloom, JCC
past presidents.
Admission to the panel discussion
is free. The public is invited.

Camp Signup

The Jewish Community Center of
Metropolitan Detroit is offering one-
week science and art camps for chil-
dren in grades 1-6 through its
Imagitivity program, June 24-Aug. 9.
Four to six camps are offered each
week.

Akiva Friends
Hold Hat Sale

Women interested in getting a pre-
view of hats set for sale at the Friends
of Akiva hat sale Sunday afternoon,
March 17, may come by in the
morning from 10 a.m.-noon. The
sale begins at 1 p.m. and lasts until 4
p.m.
The event, which raises funds for
Yeshivat Akiva, is one of two hat
sales the Friends group sponsors each
year. Prices begin at $25.
