OD-: Yes, absolutely. I have that sense
of wanting my life to keep evolving.
When one door opens, another opens,
and I need to summon the courage to
walk through. As a first-generation
Greek [American], I certainly know
what it feels like to be an outsider.

JN: Where else has this piece been per-
formed?
OD: I have performed Rose in London
at the Royal National Theatre and then
on Broadway at the Lyceum Theatre.
Those were the full productions. The
concert version has been done in Los
Angeles and Boise, Idaho. This will be
the first time in a temple, which is very
exciting.

JN: Are you working on any other
projects now?
OD: I am working on learning lines for
a play at the American Conservatory
Theatre (ACT) in San Francisco. It's by
Michel Tremblay and called For the
Pleasure of Seeing Her Again. It is a won-
derful piece [about the relationship
between a mother and son].

JN: Are there any causes to which
you devote much of your off-work
attention?
OD: I am committed to women's
health issues, especially the ones which
also affect children. I am very worried
about the abuse of women and chil-
dren, which is happening worldwide.
