example, JARC's Mitzvah and Mazel
Tov program encompasses all the

into their simchas. Rena Friedberg, .
director of development for JARC,
says, "This is a double mitzvah as
you're honoring people with disabili-
ties.
In lieu of goodie bags, she says
families have begun to make a trib-
ute in honor of each guest as a way
to celebrate a child's birthday.
To involve the children, the
younger ones might enjoy decorating
tzedakah boxes, while those a little
older may want to incorporate an
outdoor activity, such as helping at
JARC's spring Flower-A-Thon, or
building a sukkah at a JARC home
in the fall.
