ESH KODESH GILMORE
Outer and Inner Strength

Esh Kodesh was a strong man who
used his strength to help others. Once, as
his elite army unit marched through the
mountains of Lebanon, a
soldier threw down his 60-
kilo load and refused to
continue. Silently, Esh
Kodesh picked up the pack
and carried it through the
night along with his own.
"In the beginning of our tour of duty, we
were impressed by your great physical
strength," reminisced one of Esh's army
buddies. 'As time passed, we learned to
recognize your great internal strength."
His wife, Inbal, noted the same quali-
ties about the strapping soldier when the
two first met. "His inside and his outside
matched. He was very handsome on the
outside, and beautiful on the inside," she
said.
They married two years later, and Esh
Kodesh took jobs protecting Israeli
embassies abroad. But Esh Kodesh
missed his beloved homeland, so he and
Inbal returned to live in Moshav Meor
Modi'in, the town in which he grew up.
Esh Kodesh, 25, dreamed of one day
opening a computer company so that he
could spend more time with his family,
which now included a baby daughter,
Talya Dinah.
Recognizing the danger of his job, Esh
Kodesh selflessly warned his wife, "If
something happens to me, don't fall
apart. You have to take care of yourself.
You come first."
Esh Kodesh Gilmore was shot while
guarding a friend's security post in
Jerusalem on Oct. 30, 2001.
