The two-part series will address the issue Rabbi Schorsch of spirituality and scholarship in light of the recent publication of Etz Hayim, the new Conservative Torah translation. His remarks for March 4 are titled "The Place of Scholarship in Our Religious Lives;" for March 5, "From Hertz Chumash to Etz Hayim: Conservative Judaism and the Torah." Both evenings are open to the commu- nity at no charge. Dr. Schorsch will explore how Jewish spirituality is rooted in the Torah. Annually, Dr. Schorsch selects one community from around the country to deliver a major address on a significant issue of the day. Since being appointed the sixth chan- cellor of JTS in 1986, Dr. Schorsch made Jewish education his and JTS's top priority.
