Congregation Beth Shalom will hold its
annual Women's Seder 6-9 p.m.
Mondays April 1, at the synagogue. The
seder is open to all women and school-
age girls in the area, regardless of reli-
gious or congregational affiliation and is
an opportunity for women to celebrate
the female heroes of the Passover story as
well as those throughout Jewish history.
Something new this year will be the
incorporation of a mitzvah project.
Those who attend are asked to bring an
age-appropriate toy (no batteries) for
Ethiopian children in Israel, ages birth
through 6 years. If the toy involves lan-
guage, Hebrew is preferred. The project
is conducted in conjunction with PACT,
Parents and Children Together, a coali-
tion of government and community
agencies concerned about the learning
disadvantage Ethiopian immigrant chil-
dren in Israel face when they begin
school. The initial focus is on those in
the city of Netanya, home to 1,100
Ethiopian pre-schoolers.
Reservations for the seder should be
made by March 18. The cost is $20 for
adults and.$10 for children 13 and
under. Sponsorships are welcomed to
help offset the cost of holding the event.
Angels ($36) and sponsors ($180) are
recognized in the seder program. A vege-
tarian meal is available by advance order.
Reservations and payment should be
sent by March 18 to Women's Seder,
Congregation Beth Shalom, 14601 W.
Lincoln Road, Oak Park, MI 48237. A
reservation form and additional infor-
mation can be obtained by calling the
synagogue, (248) 547-7970.
